Next Generation Portable (NGP) All The Details

At a live event in Tokyo last night Sony finally unveiled what they are now calling the ‘Next Generation Portable’ or you can call it the NGP.

The new handheld console from Sony has a massive 5-inch 960×544 OLED touchscreen and a touch sensitive back. It sports dual analog sticks with a Sixaxis motion-sensing system. It also has a camera not only on the back, but one on the front much like the new iPhone 4.

The chip it runs on is the most advanced on the market claim Sony; an ARM Cortex A9 (core) CPU, and a SGX543MP4+ GPU. It also has a flash-based memory card, 3G, Bluetooth and Wifi connectivity.

Next Generation Portable

Before the Next Generation Portable was unveiled, CEO of Sony, Kaz Hirai also unveiled a new platform called PlayStation Suite that allows all 1st generation games to run on a variety of Andriod-enabled handsets and tablets, which means Andriod owners will finally be able to get their hands on Sony games. Even better news is that the Next Generation Portable is backward compatible, and will run downloadable PSP titles.

Games available for the Next Generation Portable (NGP) include: Killzone, Uncharted, Wipeout, Little Big Planet, Call of Duty, Resistance, Little Deviants, Hot Shots Golf, Reality Fighters, Gravity Daze, Smart As, Broken and Hustle Kings.
