The Windows Blue Screen of Death (BSoD) over the years has become famous for being so terrible. The blue screen is something every Windows user dreads to see; a screen filled with lots of text that most people have never took the time to read and the average user will have no clue what it means. Windows 8 was unveiled yesterday at the Microsoft BUILD conference and it seems someone got a look at the screen the user is shown when Windows crashes.
It was widely rumored it would be replaced on Windows 8 with a black screen, those rumors have turned out not to be true. Instead Microsoft have stuck with a blue screen and the crash code has been replaced with a sad face. As the screen is still blue we’re not sure whether it will still be dubbed the Blue Screen of Death?
Under the sad face the text reads, “Your PC ran into a problem it couldn’t handle, and now it needs to restart.”
The smaller text reads “You can search for the error online:” and beside it is the error code “System Service Exception”. Although this has very much simplified the “BSoD” it doesn’t seem like it will be any more helpful to the user; I imagine searching online for a solution to the error code “System Service Exception” will not return any helpful solutions.
