HP and Dell Ultrabook schedules have been leaked, with both companies set enter production for their ultra-portable laptops by the end of the year. They will be running on Intel’s Cedar Trail processors and are set to go head-to-head with the MacBook Air for market share.

HP will start production on their own Ultrabooks by the end of the year with design manufacturer Quanta Computer readying production. Details regarding specs are unknown at this point.
Dell’s Ultrabook will feature a 14-inch display and is being designed by Wistron, beyond that no specifications have been suggested. It is expected to be unveiled at CES 2012 in January.
As you can see at this point specifications for both devices are scarce but they are expected to follow Intel’s design specs. Much like the Apple MacBook Air they will be super thin, they will be packed with powerful Intel Cedar Trail processors, they will have a long battery life and will feature USB 3.0.
Ultrabooks from Acer, ASUS, Lenovo, and Toshiba are expected to debut in the coming months and should land before HP or Dell. The delay for the production of Ultrabooks from Dell and HP is thought to be due to the wait for Intel’s Cider Trail processors.
Pricing is still a mystery for Dell and HP’s models, but Intel hope they’ll come in at under $1,000 (£646).
