AT&T have announced that the highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy S II will be landing on their 4G HSPA+ network on October 2. The phone has been out in Europe for a few months already and on September 16 it was released on the Sprint Network as the Epic Touch 4G.
On their website it says “coming soon”, however they give an exact date for its release on twitter when they also announced it would cost $199 on a two year contract , with a $15/month data plan required.
The Galaxy S II will be available starting October 2 for $199.99 w/2-yr contract! Min. $15/month data plan req’d.
The AT&T Galaxy S II sports a 1.2GHz processor and is running Android 2.3 Gingerbread, alongside the latest version of Samsung’s TouchWiz UI. It has a 8 megapixel rear-facing camera capable of video capture up to 1080p and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera for video chat. There is also a HDMI slot for streaming content to an HDTV.
It has a Super AMOLED Plus 4.3 inch display, slightly smaller than the Epic Touch 4G. However despite the smaller screen, reviews suggest that the design of the AT&T Galaxy S II seems much more clean.
