The Pandigital Supernova which is the follow up to the original Pandigital Nova, will be released very soon and with a budget price. This latest budget tablet to hit the market will be released mid-October and will come with a price tag of $229.
Pandigital have done little to keep this tablet a mystery, when it passed through FCC earlier this summer we not only got a look at images of the device and its internals but also a look at the apps that will come pre-loaded on the device; such as GetJar and Barnes & Noble’s Nook apps.
The tablet will feature an 8-inch display, although the resolution is still 800 x 600 in a 4:3 aspect ratio which is a bit disappointing. It will feature the Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, a single-core 1GHz A8 processor, 4GB of storage which can be expanded to 32GB via a microSD slot, WiFi and Bluetooth. In terms of cameras it has a 0.3 megapixel front-facing camera and 3 megapixel rear-facing camera.
The specs are certainly anything but impressive but as an eReader with a budget price tag I guess it’s good to have alternatives to the Kindle Fire which is set to dominate that section of the market.
