According to the rumor mill this is the first photo to be taken with an iPhone 5. Pocketnow uncovered the picture which claims to be taken with an iPhone 4.
The EXIF data however shows it could not have been taken by an iPhone 4. The image has been cropped to 2235 x 2291 to fit around the meal, however the the original resolution was 3264 x 2448, which is a perfect 4:3 aspect ratio at around 8 megapixels, the same same as the camera which is expected in the new iPhone 5. The iPhone 4 only sports a 5 megapixel camera so it could not have been taken on an iPhone 4.
Also, the lens was recorded as a 4.3mm f/2.4, which is closer to that of a point-and-shoot than the iPhone 4′s actual 3.85mm f/2.8.
It’s very easy to fake a photo’s EXIF data however in this case after viewing the original source and the fact that the photographer is an Apple engineer all supports the theory that it is infact from an iPhone 5. You can view the original file here.
