According to an Apple employee who asked not to be named, the highly anticipated iPhone 5 is just weeks away.
Earlier this month screenshots were leaked that confirmed staff training for iOS 5 and iCloud had begun. This was quickly followed by rumors stating iOS 5 had been sent to networks so they could begin testing. This latest rumor from an unnamed Apple employee certainly seems to back up previous rumors.
Yesterday images of a new iPhone case surfaced online from a company called Case-Mate. The cases were available on their site for a short period of time but the page has since been replaced with a message that reads, “We’ll have your cases when you have your new iPhone.” They go on to say the iPhone 5 “will be released in the coming weeks”.
According to Apple employees the case seems to be pretty accurate in regards to the new iPhone 5. There have been reports of a broader and flatter phone allowing space for a larger screen. However a more reasonable explanation is it was simply a PR stunt by Case-Mate, as things like this rarely happen by accident.
Other reports are confirmed that the iPhone 5 will feature a 8-megapixel camera and a dual-core Apple A5 chipset. These have been making the rounds for quite some time; with the camera specs all but confirmed following a leaked photo rumored to be taken with an iPhone 5.
Finally, inside sources are also saying the iPhone 5 may include a new chip made by Qualcomm that includes near-field communication technology. Better known as NFC the new technology allows you to make payments by simply waving the phone over an NFC reader. The iPhone would be linked to your iTunes account to make it easy for people to set-up a payment method on the iPhone.
