Samsung have just posted a picture of Samsung Illusion on their Official Samsung flickr stream. The post on flickr talks about how they have won a “green” certificate for two of their phones; the Ever Green phone and the Illusion phone.
The Samsung Illusion will add to their expanding range of Eco Friendly phones with the Samsung Replenish being the other one. The post doesn’t tell us anything about the device instead only talks about the “green” certificate they have received:
“Samsung mobile phones have been awarded a “green” certificate by one of the most reliable establishment in the US. Samsung announced on September 15 that its two mobile phone models including Ever Green phone (SGH-A667) and Illusion phone (SCH-I110) won a certificate of SPC (Sustainable Product Certification) by the Underwriters Laboratories (UL) in the US, an independent product safety certification organization, expanding its “green” phone line-up into three which also include Replenish (SPH-M580).
The SPC certificate ensures that a product concerned has passed just about any rigorous standard in relation to sustainability: without using hazardous material, high energy-efficiency, ease of lengthening a product life cycle and the maker’s “green” efforts during the whole process of manufacturing.”
It’s not too often a phone manufacturer leaks their own phone early, unless the release date is just around the corner. Rumors are indicating a release date of September 29th.
Apart from the Sustainable Product Certification no specs have been confirmed. The rumors that have been making the rounds say it will be running on a 800 MHz to 1 GHz single-core processor, it will have a display around 3.2 to 3.5-inches and a 3 to 5-megapixel camera; so this is very much a mid-range phone. It will most likely feature Samsung’s most recent TouchWiz interface for Android 2.3.
