The seventh Android OS Ice Cream Sandwich has yet to be released but according to ThisIsMyNext the eighth major Android release and follow up to Ice Cream Sandwich will be called ‘Jelly Bean’.
Each new version of the Android operating system is developed under a code name based on a dessert item. So far the Android OS has seen the release of Cupcake, Donut, Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb, and the upcoming Ice Cream Sandwich. So if the eighth version is called ‘Jelly Bean’ it would make alphabetical sense.
Reports also suggest that improvements to the Android OS that were supposed to be included in Ice Cream Sandwich have now been pushed back to Jelly Bean. So it seems that all Ice Cream Sandwich will offer are minor improvements and a new theme.
