6.2 percent of smartphone users scan QR codes

Comscore stats reveal 6.2 percent of smartphone users scan QR codes.

Since QR codes were announced years ago, they have been showing up left, right and center. Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you will have noticed them on some of the everyday items you purchase. The big question however, are people actually using them?

Well, findings from market research firm Comscore seem to suggest they are being used. According to them 6.2 percent of all smartphone users are using the QR codes.

Further statistics from Comscore reveal that over 60 percent are male, 53 percent are between the age of 18 to 34 years old and 36 percent have a household income of $100k or more. Interestingly people are more likely to scan the QR code at home rather than in a shop. Also the QR codes are scanned more in magazines, newspapers and product packaging compared to QR codes on a website.
