Apple has again stuck with the three current sizes; 13, 15 and 17 inch screens. The 13″ model comes with two options; the lower spec one features a 2.3Ghz dual-core i5 processor and a 320GB hard drive. The higher spec model features a 2.7Ghz dual-core i7 processor and 500GB hard drive. Both options will feature Intel HD Graphics 3000.

The 15″ model also comes with two options. The lower spec model features a 2.0GHz quad-core i7 processor and 500GB hard drive. The higher spec model features a 2.2GHz quad-core i7 processor and 750GB hard drive. Both options have AMD graphics that is 3x faster than the previous MacBook range.

Finally we have the 17″ model which features a 2.2GHz quad-core i7 processor, 750GB hard drive and AMD graphics.

Apple claims all models have 7 hours battery life which we have come to expect from the MacBook. They also all have 4GB RAM.

When placing an order on the Apple site there are other options to upgrade some of the models, these include:

  • Quad-core processor up to 2.3GHz, with Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.4GHz
  • Memory up to 8GB
  • Hard drive up to 750GB
  • 128GB, 256GB, or 512GB solid-state drive

The most noticeable change to this new range of MacBook’s however is the new Thunderbolt Technology. Apple claims it’s “the fastest, most versatile I/O ever in a notebook.” The new I/O technology is more than 12 times faster than FireWire 800 and up to 20 times faster than USB 2.0.
