According to sources “close to the situation” the next Apple media event will be October 4. All Things D are reporting that Apple have chosen that date to showcase their iPhone 5 and the device will be available for purchase within the next few weeks following the event.
The date lines up well with previous leaks and rumors; we recently reported that Apple staff has started iOS 5 and iCloud training and that Best Buy were preparing their in-store installions for the new Apple products on October 21. So at this point although nothing has been confirmed, it’s almost certain the new iPhone 5 will be released next month.
Recent reports have also suggested that Apple would be released a new iPhone 4S which is tipped to be a more affordable version of the iPhone 4. Apple have been keeping tight lipped about the iPhone 5 however, the most common rumors suggest it will have a larger display and thinner chassis.
This will be Tim Cook’s first time on center stage for such an important product launch, he has previously filled in for Steven Jobs but for nothing as significant as this. Not only will he have to announce the iPhone 5 but he’ll have to prove to the press and public that he’s the right person to replace Steve Jobs.
