Until now there have only been rumors here and there that RIM would be bringing out a Messenger app for Android and iOS, but now TechRader have got their hands on some leaked screenshots that show a BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) running on Google’s Android OS. They reportedly come from a RIM employee, who has been working with the application and says that it is now in the final stages of testing.
BBM is one of the main reasons for the popularity of the BlackBerry and soon you’ll be able to access the service Android devices as an App from the Android Marketplace. We also expect the service will make its way to iOS devices.
In the leaked screenshots we can see the BlackBerry icon on an Android home screen and user’s contact profile. The icon on the homepage looks like it could just be a placeholder and will be replaced with a more polished looking icon when the BMM App is released.
On the contact page all the information you’d expect is display; the contact’s name, picture, PIN and availability status shown along with messaging and contact book icons at the bottom of the page.
