For many months Apple have been caught up in lawsuits with HTC. We also reported recently how Apple had successfully got an injunction to stop the sales and advertising of the Samsung Tab 10.1 across Europe; which was later overturned.
Now the HTC and Apple patent war looks set to continue with the Taiwanese smartphone giants looking the iPad and iPhone banned due to patent infringements.
The latest lawsuit was filed with the International Trade Commission in a US District Court in Delaware; is asking for Apple products such as the iPad, iPhone and Mac to be banned and for compensation. If the the lawsuit was successful Apple stores would be basically striped bare.
In an official statement Grace Lei from HTC’s general counsel said: “Apple needs to stop its infringement of our patented inventions in its products.”
“We are taking this action against Apple to protect our intellectual property, our industry partners, and most importantly our customers that use HTC products.”
However it is very unlikely much will happen with the lawsuit, with industry experts claiming it is just a ploy by HTC to weaken Apple’s negotiating stance on the patents it alleges HTC is infringing with its own products.
