The words cheap and high performance are two words that don’t get used in the same sentence very often but they both describe the Sony Xperia Neo perfectly.
Sony Ericsson has been talking a lot about the Xperia Neo over the last couple of months. Termed as a ‘cheaper brother’ of the Xperia Arc and Xperia Play. With a mid-level price tag, it seems like you get your moneys worth. The mind-boggling features include jazzy design, superior performance and a reasonable price.
Xperia Neo: Jazzy, stylish blue or black and sleek — you will love it
Sony Ericsson had been working on the Xperia Neo for a long time — the result: a sleek, contemporary version of the ‘mid-ranged’ more expensive Xperia Play and Arc. The unique features of the Neo include — standard Android base and customized touch-screen buttons in the front side. The smartphone is available in a dark bluish metal blue and chrome, is a great looking phone. Sony have given it a little makeover on the lock screen — but the basics of the Android GUI have been kept the same; only a few superfluous changes.
With the Xperia Neo, Sony Ericsson has experimented a bit, they have positioned the USB port and the HDMI on the top, moving the power button on the other side of the handset. But, one issue — the touch-screen sensitivity is bit less than most of the latest Android smartphones available in the market.
Xperia Neo: Performance-wise, not lacking behind at all
Performance wise, there’s nothing lacking… Xperia Neo’s performance is one of the best in the Android smartphone market. Powered by a Qualcomm 1GHz processor and running the latest Android v2.3 Gingerbread Operating System, the browsing and loading of all the inbuilt apps takes place within a blink, the response speed is even better than Nexus S. Also, Sony has integrated a lot of pre-built apps like the TimeScape, Facebook and twitter; so it’s also a delight for social networkers.
A run of same sort of testing parameters and checks, reveals the performance to be better than Motorola Droid, Nexus S, HTC Desire and Galaxy S.
Overall it’s a good buy, but we can expect some updates in coming months in regards to the connectivity aspects; the GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
