Samsung to launch the first handset to run Google’s Android 2.4 Ice Cream Sandwich OS.
It’s been quite a day for Samsung; we’ve already reported today about a new 7-inch tablet with an AMOLED screen and the announcement of the Galaxy Xcover smartphone.
The latest news leaked online reports that Samsung are set to release five new smartphones, the first of which is the Samsung GT-I9250 which has a 1.4GHz dual-core processor and will be running Google’s upcoming Android Ice Cream Sandwich OS. It features a 4.65-inch screen at 1280×720 resolution (720p) and a 5 megapixel camera.
It’s going to be a real powerhouse of a smartphone and no doubt the one most people will be wanting to get their hands on seeing as it will be the first ever phone to run the new OS from Android.
Next on the list is the Samsung GT-I9220, which has a huge 5.29-inch 1280×720 super AMOLED plus screen, a 1.4GHz dual-core processor and a 8 megapixel camera. It will however be running Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
The other three smartphones are more modest in comparison. The GT-I9210 will have a 4.5-inch screen at 800 x 480 resolution, 4G, 8 megapixel camera on the rear and 2 megapixel camera on the front.
The Samsung GT-I8150 has a 3.7-inch screen at 800×480 resolution, 5 megapixel rear facing camera featuring 720p at 30fps and a VGA front facing camera. Finally the Samsung B5510-W41 has the smallest screen of the bunch at 2.8-inches. It features a QWERTY keyboard, 3 megapixel camera and FM radio.
