It has been a few months since HTC launched the Salsa in many countries simultaneously with Vodafone. Featuring a dedicated Facebook button, Salsa is one of the first two ‘Facebook phones’ from smartphone giants HTC; the other being the HTC ChaCha.
HTC Salsa: Stunning appearance, modest hardware, superior performance
The Salsa is elegant, stylish and overall looks stunning; you can tell HTC have put a lot of time into the design of the phone. The sleek design and smoothly rounded phone edges give it a feel of comfort when held in grip. It sports a wide touchscreen display with standard Android touch-sensitive buttons on the front side of the smartphone.
On the back of the smartphone is a mesh-protected speaker, a LED notification feature — which alerts you of new mails, missed calls, SMS or any other notification. On the right-side is a physical button for taking photos or videos.
Now the hardware, the Salsa comes with an 800MHz processor aided by 512MB RAM — it’s not the best currently on the market but certainly good enough to carry out the basic functions with ease. On the battery life, it’s one of the best you can find among the Androids, so whether you’re playing games, web browsing or making calls; it lasts about one full day which currently is great for a smartphone.
The only thing we could find wrong with the Salsa, is it does take a long pause for some Android animations to process, even the lock screen function takes up sometime.
HTC Salsa: Facebook Button and much more
The most striking and unique feature is the new raised Facebook button below the touchscreen, which is in the color of ‘Facebook blue’. It’s one of the main reasons to get this phone and prehaps a reason why people who do not use Facebook will not want to purchase this phone.
HTC has developed the Salsa revolving around Facebook, with image sharing, pics and videos uploading in mind. To support that, HTC has integrated both front and rear viewing 5 Megapixel cameras. The picture quality isn’t anything special, we would have liked to have seen a 8MP camera which features on a lot of other Android phones currently on the market.
Uploading pics just got even easier — click the Facebook button and tap the gallery or camera icon, you can upload the images within a blink. The only drawback, there’s no option to directly upload a video; you have to use a third party application.
If you are a ‘Facebooker’, you are surely going to love Salsa, it’s perhaps the best Facebook integrated smartphone you can find in the market. Let us know what you think of this latest smartphone from HTC via Twitter, Facebook or leave us a comment below.
